Show us the work!

The facts are clear that I am telling the truth. What reason would I have not to?

• We expected to pay for the Laskers’ services and did so, promptly. We can produce bank evidence that their initial fee was taken from our account. We can also produce evidence that we bought a Miva toolkit for their project.

• We clearly outlined the tasks and expected deliverables, via email communications that we can produce. It was reasonable for us to expect that they would do some work.

• We inquired repeatedly as to status of the project, via web and email messages that we can produce. Our inquiries were ignored, and Lasker can’t produce any evidence to the contrary.

• We had been waiting for months for any kind of response before we started trying to track them down. When we couldn’t, we finally sounded the alarm publicly. (We now know where they are.)

So, Chuck Lasker, if any work was done on our behalf, where is it? And why did you guys go silent when we started asking questions after months of waiting patiently?

I can prove my claim with solid evidence. I think you need to prove yours.

If anyone cares, I can prepare an Affadavit of Truth, have it notarized, file it with our Secretary of State on a UCC-3, and then post a scan of the filed document here as legal evidence of the facts of the matter. I’ll need to go through that process anyway to support a lawsuit if I ever come up with the funds to travel to Hawaii.

Our precious funds are tied up with the Laskers, and it’s a lot farther to prosecute a case in Hawaii, which has jurisdiction. Hence our online efforts. Never mind being able to pay for a different consultant to take over. We’ve been screwed and Lasker Consulting isn’t interested in coming up with any form of customer satisfaction. They seem to regard clients as animals to be bilked and milked.

Again, buyer beware.

Our company engaged with Lasker Consulting of Kauai, Hawaii to do a specific set of updates to our website and Miva Merchant storefront, but they have absconded with our initial payment of $1,050 without doing any work whatsoever.

For some unknown reason, Chuck Lasker and his son David have simply gone silent once they got our initial payment. We are most disappointed, because we thought these guys were reputable.

Neither Chuck nor David Lasker has responded to our emails, Facebook postings, web-based contacts… NOTHING! Their policy is to not give out their phone number and in the course of the engagement they only will call you, so a client does not know how to call them in Kauai.

We are wondering if our task list was simply beyond their capabilities, but even so, that wouldn’t give them the right to disappear with our money and ignore our attempts to contact them and make it right between us.

Lasker Consulting says that their bank accepts faxed checks, so they require payment from the client in the form of a FAXED CHECK to a firm called “Hawaii Personal & Business Services, LLC,” which is untraceable. Since this is fax to a bank, the client has no recourse to do a chargeback through a credit or debit card issuer. Thus, it is difficult if not impossible to recover your funds if they go south on you.

We are stumped as to what’s happening or why, but after two months of silence from the Lasker Consulting, it definitely seems like they’re ripping us off. If anyone has a phone number for Chuck or David Lasker, we would appreciate learning of a way to call them. We regret having to resort to this type of posting, but we don’t seem to have any other path to get to them.

At this point, all we want is to terminate our engagement and get our money back. We have contacted Miva Corporation about this fraud, but they have been uncooperative in helping us contact Lasker Consulting and they even removed one of our complaint postings about them from the Miva Community Forums. Chuck Lasker is frequently a trainer at the Miva developers’ conferences, and we think Miva should be embarrassed to be supporting Lasker given that he’s ripping off their customers.

If we are able to resolve this in a satisfactory manner, we will certainly post an update here to that effect. But absent anything further, BUYER BEWARE!
