Regarding your article of September 28, 2006 on the indictment of Dr. Forsythe, I am a new resident of Nevada who knows something of the particulars of this story. This article informed us well about the least relevant aspects of this harassment. It did not offer much depth or content to the real situation, however.

The central charges here are that Dr. Forsythe illegally obtained health-promoting products without getting approval from the U.S. Department of health and Human Services. These charges are spurious, and just plain wrong. The medicine was not imported from Israel, but from a Carson City Pharmacy that was legitimately licensed by Nevada to import it. In evaluating this purchase, Dr. Forsythe was given documentation from Nevada validating the pharmacy’s license. So,no law was in effect requiring the approval to buy or use HGH from said Federal department. Dr. Forsythe’s medical licenses are issued by the State of Nevada, not the Federal Government, and none of this indictment pertains to any complaints about his practice of medicine.

Also, what’s with the 44-count complaint from one person 11 years ago? All of these dismissed except for one “no contest” and a fine to correct any perceived damages. Maybe there is an interesting story there, but it isn’t this one. And sharing information about the political efforts of his wife in earlier campaigns in this community? What does that have to do with this either?

This physician is doing great work in providing effective cancer treatments in our city, with patients flying in from around the world for his care. If any of your readers have been touched by a fight against cancer, they will know how rare it is to locate effective and safe treatments for this disease, anywhere in the world. In earning this reputation among patients, Dr. Forsythe has also acquired another reputation within the industries who have profited most from the modern Cancer Industry, with its dangerous, expensive, and ineffective treatments. These indictments and charges are coming in because of that latter reputation.

Your readership deserves a better view of such an important event in this community. The simple statement that he did not return calls for comment was an implication that you actually made those calls. None were received, however, so talk to your reporters about journalism basics. Maybe a rebuttal piece from Dr. Forsythe’s office would be the fair thing to offer.
