Echinacea Extract provides support for the
immune system. Echinacea (purple coneflower) is a
native American herb that was once widely used by the
Plains Indians and is now used by millions of consumers
worldwide.
Echinacea is an immune tonic and is used to support
the body's natural defense system. It is known to
stimulate macrophages and antibody production.
U.S. researchers who reviewed over a dozen studies on
the effect of echinacea have concluded that the popular
herbal remedy reduces a person's chance of catching a
cold by 58 percent. They also found that it cuts
the duration of a cold by an average of 1.4 days.
The researchers concluded that published evidence supports
echinacea's benefit in decreasing the incidence and
duration of the common cold. The study is published
in the July edition of The Lancet Infectious Diseases.
