DMSO (DiMethyl SulfOxide) has been called "The
Aspirin of the 21st Century." It has been
helpful for the following conditions:
- athletic injuries
- osteoarthritis
- rheumatoid arthritis
- herniated disk of the neck and lower back
- scleroderma (systemic sclerosis)
- thermal burns of the 1st and 2nd degree
- radiation burns
- frostbite
When applied to the skin, DMSO penetrates rapidly and
passes into the tissue below. Scientists believe
DMSO may produce a wide range of pharmacologic actions,
including anti-inflammation (reduced swelling), local
analgesia (pain relief), bacteriostasis, diuresis,
cholinesterase inhibition, potentiator of the action of
concomitantly administered drugs, influence on collagen,
nonspecific enhancement of immunity, vasodilation, and
lessening of adhesiveness of blood platelets.
This product, known as DUSA SAL, is the
original DMSO formulation from the inventor's laboratory.
It is provided as a topical gel containing
600mg/mL dimethyl sulfoxide, in a special formulation
that reduces metabolic odor. It contains a
compound of aspirin (methyl salicylate) that gives it a
pleasant wintergreen scent. Because it's a gel,
DUSA SAL is an excellent choice for travel, and it is
especially popular among athletes.
