Shilajit has an unmatched power to arrest and reverse
the aging process. In Sanskrit, the literal meaning of Shilajit is
"rock-like" because it was known to make the
body like a rock, enabling it to withstand the ravages of
time.
Shilajit contains numerous minerals in ionic form, as
well as fulvic acid. It is an extract of a black,
tarry substance
that flows from between layers of rock in the Himalayan
mountains during warm weather. It is composed of
plant material which grew in 200 million-year-old sea beds,
was trapped and compressed by layers of rock, and then
was pushed up for the last 50 million years to form the
Himalayan Mountains.
Shilajit has been used by
the Nepali as a libido-enhancing adaptogenic tonic for
over 5,000 years. Traditional use includes helping
with vitality, sexual function, fat loss, brain functions,
and reproductive functions. Modern studies show it
to be a slow-acting aphrodisiac, immune stimulant, and
antioxidant to promote growth and protein synthesis, and
to lower blood sugar.
Indian yogis consider Shilajit to have divine powers
to heal the body of virtually any ailment and, above all,
restore youthfulness. Ancient Chinese and Indian
literature mentions Shilajit as "amrit" or
nectar of evergreen life and fountain of
youth. Indian Yogis still widely use Shilajit, and
it is not uncommon to find Indian Yogis aged 100 years in
Himalayan regions who have the stamina and body structure
of a youth.
